Family-friendly restaurant in Altrincham

The "Bramley Farm - Farmhouse Inns" in Altrincham, United Kingdom, is a popular family-friendly restaurant that is part of the Farmhouse Inns chain and operated by Greene King. Located in the Broadheath area, it opened its doors in July 2018 as part of a larger development project that also includes a community hall and a nursery. The restaurant features a modern, welcoming design and accommodates over 360 guests, complemented by a spacious outdoor terrace and a beer garden, making it ideal for relaxed al fresco dining. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for families, friends, or larger celebrations.

Traditional British cuisine with carvery

Culinary-wise, the "Bramley Farm" is especially known for its traditional British cuisine, with a particular focus on carvery dishes. The highlight is undoubtedly the carvery section, where guests can choose from a selection of 14-hour slow-roasted meats such as beef, turkey, or gammon. These are served with fluffy Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes, and a variety of vegetables – a true feast for lovers of classic pub food. In addition to the carvery, there are also other hearty options like juicy burgers or award-winning pies, known for their rich fillings. For those preferring something lighter, the menu also includes fresh alternatives like grilled fish.

Homemade cakes and desserts

A special feature of the restaurant is the in-house bakery, where huge, artistically decorated cakes are made daily by the so-called "Farmhouse Cake-a-tiers." The Chocolate Fudge Cake particularly stands out – a rich, chocolatey dessert often recommended as a sweet ending. Seasonal creations like the Bumble Berry Cake, a combination of lemon and raspberry sponge with colorful frosting, also provide variety and invite guests to try something new. The drinks menu complements the offerings with a selection of beers, including local ales, as well as non-alcoholic options like aromatic tea, which pairs well with the sweet specialties.

Restaurant with outdoor terrace and beer garden

The "Bramley Farm" places great importance on quality and freshness, sourcing ingredients from trusted suppliers. It is designed to be particularly family-friendly, featuring an indoor play area for children and an outdoor playground, allowing parents to relax while the little ones are entertained. The service is often described as warm and attentive, with staff – including frequently praised individuals like Andrew or Mandi – ensuring that guests feel welcome. However, there are occasional reports of waiting times during peak hours, which can occur during busy periods.

Be careful if you go on a Wednesday - it’s quiz night and you could be asked to leave mid-meal. We were enjoying our meal and deciding what to order dessert when we got asked to vacate the table for a reservation. 5-mins earlier a helpful server had even offered to take our order and was giving us some time to decide. The explanation given was that the table was for a regular attending the quiz. A number of nearby tables had reserve signs, ours didn’t. Completely understand that the restaurant looks after its regulars. If someone had told us the time we needed to leave as they seated us, we would have asked for a different table when being seated. We would have happily sat anywhere in the restaurant but were shown to that table and didn’t expect to be moved mid-meal. As a result we didn’t order dessert and decide to leave. Poor customer service to ask people to move in the middle of a meal and lost our custom for doing so. There’s a way to look after both your regulars and passing trade but this wasn’t it. One server was so helpful - Kelsey. Young blonde server was completely oblivious to what the issue would be asking to move customer mid-meal.

A better experience this time. The manager is consistently professional which I appreciate. Our server today was lovely; friendly and helpful and it makes such a difference to the overall experience as we've had a short tempered server here before which made us all uncomfortable. It really does depend who you get. But this is a nice family pub with a good children's play area which is a big draw for us with three small children. Also serving vegan ice cream as my two youngest have dairy intolerance and *many* places don't provide a non dairy option. We continue to return to this place as we are happy with it. Don't bother with free drink promotions though and certainly don't make a special visit to redeem one as they don't keep the alcohol stocks adequately replenished to meet demands (which they will be aware of ahead of time from breweries) so you will be disappointed trying to redeem a free drink promotion and they won't offer a substitute as they state "while stocks last". We won't fall for that one again.
